Gallery Two - Dragonfly
Garden ponds always have regular visits from flying insects.
Lesley managed to snap some close-up photos of this huge green dragonfly in 2004.

Image 1 Dragonfly Lesley spotted the dragonfly perched on the side of the pond and she ran swiftly for the camera.

Image 2 Compound eyes When the subject has eyes this large you have to move very slowly.

Image 3 Grooming The dragonfly wasn't too bothered though - this was obviously a short cleaning stop.

Image 4 Wing engine The base of the wings.

Image 5 Good vision A quick wipe of the eyes.

Image 6 Top of the head too It helps to have a head that rotates through 90 degrees.
