Lesley spent her lunchtime photographing birds on a Rickmansworth lake on a sunny February day in 2008.

Very large bird with a long S-shaped neck and an orange bill with black at the base.

Large goose introduced from North America. Black head and neck with white throat.

All black waterbird with white beak and "shield".

Robin (Erithacus rubecula)
Very aggressive bird. Males and females look identical with red breast.

Mallard (Anas platyrhynchos)
Very common, large, heavy duck. Females (above) are mainly brown whilst males have green heads, purple-brown breasts and grey bodies.
