Lesley spent her lunchtime photographing birds on a Rickmansworth lake on a sunny February day in 2008.

Image 1 Mute Swan (Cygnus olor) Very large bird with a long S-shaped neck and an orange bill with black at the base.

Image 4 Canada Goose (Branta canadensis) Large goose introduced from North America. Black head and neck with white throat.

Image 5 Coot (Fulica atra) All black waterbird with white beak and "shield".

Image 8 Robin (Erithacus rubecula) Very aggressive bird. Males and females look identical with red breast.

Image 9 Mallard (Anas platyrhynchos) Very common, large, heavy duck. Females (above) are mainly brown whilst males have green heads, purple-brown breasts and grey bodies.
