(Isobel) Margaret CLOSE , an information technologist, and William 'Bill' Ronald WHELLAMS, a civil servant, were married on the 21st September 1968 at St Mary's Church, Twyford, Bucks. Her sister Lesley, his niece Cindy and Margaret's friends Barbara and Thelma were bridesmaids. 'After the ceremony, they left for their honeymoon, keeping the destination' as the local paper reported it. The bride's dress was described in the same article as having leg of lamb sleeves, an appropriate description given her ancestral names. After 32 years of marriage, the Whellams' were divorced in early 2004.
Margaret as a baby in 1945 in her pram, almost certainly in South Hylton. What a bonny babe!
