I had been wanting to get to grips with computer music for a long time. At
the back end of 1993 Simon Holland of the Open University showed me a Yamaha
QY20 and gave me a brief guide to it over lunch. The next day I bought one
and spent eight hours on it. It was a wonderful piece of kit and I
made up lots of perky instrumentals on it as well as backings for songs Jim
Bigmore and I were doing then. The sound may not equal the latest virtual
studio but I remember the hours I spent in that flat in Kents Hill working
on that delightful box of tricks. |
