JOHN STEVEN CLOSE
John was born in Honeypot Lane, London. In 1970, he started writing songs and was a fine (self-taught) guitarist, mandolin, keyboard/piano and fiddle player. He was in at the start of the IT revolution and was still fascinated by computers, especially music-making programmes, right up to the time of his death. He was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease on March 1st 2001 and died, as a result of assisted suicide, in Zurich on 26th May 2003. After his diagnosis he worked hard to get all of his material saved onto CD and in MP3 format for posterity: the selection available here was approved by him and the footnotes to the files are his.
