John TURNER was married to a woman called Sarah
but that's all we know about her.
She may have been Sarah HAMMOND, the (at the
moment unidentified) daughter of a family of button makers
in Birmingham . It is possible that, upon their marriage,
John TURNER become a partner in the company. How else
does one explain the fact that an 1783 directory of Birmingham
lists a button makers called Hammond, John and Samuel, of
Snow Hill and by 1830 there a button makers called Hammond,
Turner (note the comma) of 100 Snow Hill is listed in a Warwickshire
directory and a child of John TURNER is called Samuel Hammond
TURNER.
