A former resident of Church Lane, Chesterfield, and later for 18 years at
9 Back South Street, New Whittington, Mrs Catherine Hall (68) Springwell
Cottages, Middle Handley died suddenly at Chesterfield Royal Hospital on
Wednesday week. She was the widow of Mr Samuel Hall, a former miner at Handley
Colliery who died 13 years ago.
She leaves four sons, four daughters and nine grandchildren. Mrs Hall was
a member of St Patrick's RC Church, New Whittington and a service was conducted
by the Rev R Maher (Parish Priest) prior to interment at Handley Churchyard
on Saturday.
Mourners were Mr James Hall, Mr and Mrs Edmund Hall, Mr and Mrs John Hall,
Mr and Mrs Lawrence Hall, Mr and Mrs O Madin, Mr and Mrs S Thornton, Mr and
Mrs H Sanderson, Mr and Mrs F Porter, Mr John Connolly, Mr Peter Thornton,
Miss Rita Madin, Mrs T Marples and Miss A Lynch. Also present in church were
Mrs E Costello, Mrs W Porter, Mrs A Porter, Mrs R Blackham and Nancy, Mrs
D Connolly and Miss Eileen Connolly.
