At Spital Cemetery, on Thursday week, the funeral took place of Mr Stephen Connolly (92), 20 Sunny Springs, Sheffield Road, Chesterfield.

For over 50 years, and until he was 80, he had worked at Holmewood Pit. He leaves a widow, who is 81, three sons and three daughters.

At the interment, which followed Requiem Mass at Spencer Street Church, the mourners were: The Widow, Mr and Mrs J T Connolly, Mr P Connolly, Mr and Mrs M Craven, Mr and Mrs J McHugh, Mr and Mrs J Wright, Mr S Connolly (sons and daughters) Mr H Craven, Mr T Connolly, Mrs A Higginbottam, Mrs M Craven, the Misses S and K Wright, Mrs W Porter, Miss W Connolly, Miss M Connolly, Miss S Wright, Miss K Wright, Miss L Cooper, Mr and Mrs O Craven, Mr and Mrs R Morris, Sarah and Kate and Mr Garraty.

The bearers, all grandsons, were Messrs S Connolly, Brockwell; S Connolly, Brampton;
M S and J Craven, and  J Cunningham, Edlington.
